One sister dead, another wounded in Logan Square shooting

Police are talking to a person of interest Saturday evening after two sisters were both shot in the head — one fatally — reportedly by a male family member during a domestic dispute in the Logan Square neighborhood early Saturday.

Isabella Martinez, 22, of the 2000 block of North Harding Avenue, was pronounced dead at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center at 9:15 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office. Her sister, 35, was taken to the same hospital in serious condition, police said.

The two sisters were in the 2300 block of North Harding Avenue when they were shot about 4:40 a.m., according to police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli.

Before the shooting there was an altercation between one of the women and someone police were referring to as a male family member, police said.

According to authorities, the woman involved in the dispute called her sister, the man then became enraged and allegedly shot both of them.
