Adler Planetarium and Astronomy Museum was founded and built in 1930 by Max Adler. It is located on the Northerly Island, and is the part of Chicago's Museum Campus. It is the first planetarium built in the Western Hemisphere and is the oldest in existence. It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1987.
