Cultural Events in Chicago, Illinois

Chicago is a large city on Lake Michigan in the state of Illinois. Rich in diverse culture, this city hosts many events throughout the year. Some of these events include the taste of Chicago, Irish heritage celebrations, Asian festivals, Italian street fairs and the annual Caribbean festival.
Taste of Chicago

During the fourth of July Chicago hosts a large food festival called the taste of Chicago. Culturally diverse restaurants from all over the city come together for an all day food festival. Food from all over the world can be sampled at the taste of Chicago. Popular foods include pizza, Asian cuisine, Indian delicacies and rich desserts.
Irish Celebrations

There are several events throughout Chicago during Saint Patrick's Day. The Chicago river is temporarily dyed green, and there is a large parade in the downtown area. Chicago also hosts a yearly Irish heritage festival.
Chinatown

Chicago's Chinatown hosts an annual summer fair celebrating Asian culture. The festival includes food, entertainment, music, and Chinese arts and crafts.
Taylor Street Festa Italiana

Taylor Street is located in Chicago's little Italy. It is host to a large Italian festival in the summer. The festival is a celebration of Italian culture featuring Italian food and entertainment.
Caribbean Festival

The Caribbean festival is held annually at Chicago's Union park. It is a celebration of Jamaica's independence and features local and international performers. Live steel drum bands and traditional Jamaican food are some of the highlights of this event.
